Privacy Policy
Mining Daily 24 ("we", "us") publishes mining news and industry signals at miningdaily24.com. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate, because it should actually be readable.
What we collect
If you subscribe to the weekly brief, we collect the email address you provide and the date you subscribed. That's stored on our own server, not handed to a third-party mailing service, and it's used for exactly one thing: sending you the weekly brief.
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and whatever you write in the message. That's sent directly to our inbox by email and isn't kept in a separate database.
Like most websites, we also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, which pages get read, roughly where visitors are coming from, and how many people visit. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location (from your IP address), device and browser type, and the pages you visit on this site. We don't use this to identify you personally.
How we use it
- To send the weekly brief to people who asked for it
- To reply to messages sent through the contact form
- To understand which stories and pages are actually being read, so we can make the site better
We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share your email address with advertisers or other third parties.
Third parties
We use Google Analytics (Google LLC) to measure site traffic. Google's own privacy policy explains what they do with that data: policies.google.com/privacy.
The site itself is hosted with a third-party hosting provider, which stores the site's files and the subscriber list on its servers as a normal part of running a website.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish visitors and measure usage. You can block or delete these through your browser's settings at any time, this won't affect your ability to read the site.
Your rights
If you're in South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to how it's used. To exercise any of these, email miningdaily24@gmail.com.
Every weekly brief email includes a working unsubscribe link. Clicking it removes your email from our list immediately, not eventually.
If you believe we've mishandled your information, you can also lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
How long we keep it
Subscriber email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Contact form messages live in our email inbox for as long as we keep our own email, the same as any message you'd send us directly.
Children
Mining Daily 24 is a trade publication aimed at adults working in or around the mining industry. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how we use it changes meaningfully, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
